Vac-Ex have recently completed a vacuum excavation project at Drax Power Station near Goole. The station was changed from a coal fired station to one running on Biomass Fuel.
An extension to the power room was required which meant foundations had to be built in existing ground. Reduced level excavation works were required.
Uncharted services were assumed to be in the foundation area, so proof digging was required.
Two 32t Mega vacuum excavation units were supplied to the contractor, Shepherds of York and the existence of all services were proved.
Works completed to programme with ZERO strikes. There were no reported incidents in respect of service strikes.
