Vac-Ex have recently completed a vacuum excavation project during a rail infrastructure upgrade in Greater Manchester.

Ballast to be removed between rails and mapping of rail services.
Key Issues
A 32t Mega vacuum excavation unit with “Mega Arm” extendable hydraulic power arm required to access all ballast excavation with limited access to the area and rail closure in place.
Solution
Our 32t Mega vacuum excavation unit was used to safely excavate around rail using plastic dig pipes.
Conclusion
The 32t Mega vacuum excavation unit utilised having a long reach hydraulic power arm with ZERO strikes. There were no reported incidents in respect of service strikes.
Over 1 Million working hours with zero strikes.
